As part of its continued effort to protect flood-affected communities from vector-borne diseases such as malaria, HIDIG launched a large-scale mosquito net distribution campaign in eight of the hardest-hit villages in the Hiran Region.

- Haarcadey โ 250 HHs

- Dhaayga โ 380 HHs
- Wariirile โ 540 HHs
- Kurtumaaleey โ 480 HHs
- Hilaac โ 2,500 HHs
- Ceel Jaale โ 3,500 HHs

3 Long-Lasting Insecticidal Mosquito Nets (LLINs)
๐ข Total Distributed Nets: 17,010

๐ Objective:
To reduce the risk of malaria and other mosquito-borne illnesses among displaced populations living in temporary shelters with limited protection from insects.
๐ฉบ Context:
Heavy flooding displaced thousands across the Hiran region, increasing the populationโs exposure to disease. In response, HIDIG prioritized mosquito net distribution as part of its integrated health and WASH response under SHF support.
๐ธ Photo Caption:
In the attached image, HIDIG field staff distribute mosquito nets to mothers and children in remote villages. Local health workers were also involved in providing malaria prevention tips and usage guidance.
๐ฃ Impact:
Thanks to this timely intervention, over 17,000 mosquito nets are now protecting thousands of families, especially pregnant women and young children who are most vulnerable to malaria.
