 Introduction

HIDIG relief and development organization is national organization working in South Central Somalia, HRDO have been working in three main regions in south central that is Bay, Bakool and Hiraan region in South west and Hirshabelle regional state of Somalia through implementing humanitarian intervention projects for over a decade. HRDO is currently implementing Health and nutrition projects in Xudur district Bakool region in partnership with Somali Humanitarian (SHF) by undertaking three fixed site as well as seven IERT mobile teams, among the fixed sites is an MCH, Maternity and OTP sites with operational Maternity working throughout the day hence providing adequate integrated health and nutrition services.

The project is an integrated health and nutrition project in response to drought affected communities in Xudur district Bakool region Somalia

The project inception was on 1st August 2022 and will effective come to end on 31st Jan,2023 meaning 6 months of emergency integrated response services targeting 20,000 people affected by the drought in Xudur.

OPD consultation activities implementation update.
Activity 1.1.1 Outpatient consultations

Upon inception of the project in August, 2022 HIDIG team through the seven integrated response and three static sites were quick in providing enhance outpatient consultation and treatment to the vulnerable population displaced by the drought in the various sites. The project was able to provide consultations of communicable and non-communicable diseases to affected people to treat pediatric and adult illnesses by providing basic health care, including management of AWD, ARI, malaria, intestinal parasites, anemia, febrile illnesses, bacterial infections, sexually transmitted infections, and other communicable diseases that contribute mortality and morbidity and provide diagnosis, early detection and early referral for severely ill patients. Outreach/mobile clinic level- based health education sessions at the waiting area and during case consultation to educate beneficiaries on how to improve personal hygiene to prevent against those communicable diseases in this regards the project was able to reach 10,239 beneficiaries (1300 men, 3389women, 2802 boys and 2748 girls) , this translate to 51.1% of the target beneficiaries hence in good implementation progress as of the reporting period in xudur district hence improving the health of the communities affected by severe drought and conflict in the area.

HIDIG team were able to provide adequate consultation and follow up with the patient both at the outreach services points as well as the project static sites, equally, the project team were able to conducts house to house health talk and consultation among the newly drought displaced settlement in Xudur by ensuring the elderly and these disable population were equally assisted and have access to the health services hence this led to positive community health uptake during this quarterly reporting period.
