As part of our ongoing efforts to combat malnutrition and strengthen community health, HIDIG NGO, in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), conducted routine screening and monthly food distribution for vulnerable groups in Farlibah, Beletweyne District.

The initiative targeted pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and children under five affected by or at risk of malnutrition.

Key Services Provided:

🟢 Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme (TSFP):

  • Supported over 500 malnourished individuals, particularly PLW and children with moderate acute malnutrition
  • Each received a monthly food basket consisting of CSB+ (Corn-Soy Blend Plus) and vegetable oil

🟡 Blanket Supplementary Feeding Programme (BSFP):

  • Reached over 2,000 beneficiaries, including PLW and children, as a preventive measure against malnutrition
  • Monthly rations were provided to strengthen immunity and overall health

🔒 Use of BOSS Machines for Accountability:

  • Biometric registration and verification were conducted using BOSS (Beneficiary Outreach and Support System) machines
  • This ensured transparent, traceable distribution and eliminated double entitlements for caregivers
  • Beneficiaries received their exact entitlements based on accurate, digital records

Impact:

This activity improved access to life-saving nutrition support and helped prevent malnutrition-related complications in a highly vulnerable population. The use of BOSS machines has strengthened accountability, transparency, and efficiency in aid delivery.
