
With the adverse drought in the entire 2022 in Somalia and subsequent displacement in many part of Bakool region due drought and conflict makes the humanitarian effort still in dire needs with any vulnerable children boys, girls and mothers severe and moderate malnutrition.
Through the intervention of HIDIG in xudur selected IDPs it was able to reach these families with low income and children with severely malnourished for therapeutic treatment, however, a case in in hand in the past quarter is one Hassan Bare Noor who hails from Abal IDPs camp in Xudur district Bakool region, who was enrolled through the effort of the trained mothers on MUAC and HIDIG nutrition community health workers through the assistance of Mrs. Halima Abdi Modey (trained mother MUAC focal points).Mrs. Halima have been dedicated and have the willing heart to mingle within the communities in the IDPs and having seeing her passion and influential figure within the camp HIDIG nutrition program manager in support of the other nutrition team make use of her time and trained her among other women on MUAC administration and thus as volunteer she happened to screened and report Hassan Bare Noor case to HIDIG team, however, Hassan Bare Noor got the assistant of Mrs. Halima and other nutrition team in the outreach sites and was immediately referred to HIDIG static sites in Abal for proper treatment.
Upon arrival to the nutrition sites Hassan Bare Noor got screened and examined by HIDIG qualified nurse in the outreach and found that he had bilateral edema (++), high fever and vomiting, with MUAC <11.4 CM coupled with poor appetites and rushes all over the body. The qualified nurse however, immediately provided emergency referral to Xudur SC for quick treatment of medical complication , upon admission at xudur hospital Hassan Bare Noor was able to recover from the poor medical status and was enrolled back to HIDIG OTP where the nurses and other nutrition team were able to provide him with therapeutic treatment with close follow up on his health status, Hassan Bare Noor has however, responded positive on the therapeutic treatment and was discharged to target supplementary feeding program (TSFP) run by MARDO within the same location. Hassan mother Mrs. Sacdiya Ahmed is however, appreciative of the consistent assistance on the treatment of her five-year-old son and thankful too for Mr. Halima endless effort in ensuring no child suffer, “it is only possible to get such treatment in remotely and less equipped.

“Despites the enormous effort in reaching more children there is still a gap for more effort in expanding such intervention and holding the success already made,” Said Mrs. Fatuma upon HIDIG staff focus discussion with her.
Hassan Bare Noor is however, going well within the TSFP program and soon will be discharged from the program.
