As part of ongoing protection efforts targeting internally displaced persons (IDPs), HIDIG NGO, with generous support from the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF), carried out a successful distribution of dignity kits to adolescent girls and children residing in the IDP camps of Midnimo, Iftin, and Sigalow in Baladweyne District.
The activity was conducted under the project titled “Integrated Approach to Preventing and Responding to Child Rights Violations and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for Displaced Persons and Most Vulnerable Host Communities in Baladweyne District.” The initiative focused on raising awareness about child protection and gender-based violence while delivering direct support to those in need.
Key Components of the Activity:
- Awareness Sessions: Educational sessions were held to raise community understanding of child rights, gender-based violence, and available protective services.
- Dignity Kit Distribution:
Over 120 dignity kits were distributed to adolescent girls and children. The kits included hygiene products, educational materials, and recreational toys such as footballs and play sets. These items were selected to uphold the dignity and well-being of the young recipients. - Promoting Joy and Inclusion:
The distribution event was designed not only to meet essential needs but also to bring happiness to the children, ensuring they experience the joy and care every child deserves—despite the challenges of displacement.

Impact:
This initiative made a meaningful contribution to improving the lives of vulnerable children and adolescent girls in IDP camps. By combining awareness activities with tangible support, HIDIG helped enhance protection, dignity, and emotional well-being among displaced youth in Baladweyne.
